Crew

The crew on this production are providing their services free of charge, everyone from Glen Allen as narrator down to the cameramen. No one on the project is making any money out of the documentary. The staff work on this ATV Network venture in their spare time.

Equipment

ATV Network has provided the camera, sound and lighting for free.

Locations

All the locations within the ATV Network documentary have been kindly donated for free. A list of the locations which have provided their services for free can be found in the supported by page. The only location that wanted paying for the pleasure was Coventry Cathedral. We declined their request of over £200.

Interview Payments

ATV has provided limited funds for paying interviewees. Most have actually asked for no payment and only expenses have been issued - and not all cast or crew have wanted costs paid for either. This does show the great affection many of those who worked on Crossroads still have for the serial. And of course many do it for free because of the great friendship they had with Roger Tonge and Noele Gordon, who this project is also celebrating.

A fee of £100 is offered per session to well known personalities from the series. £50 is offered to lesser known cast and crew. Any money left in this fund will be donated to Crossroads Care. All payments are made to agents and must be arranged before the interview is recorded. Asking for fees after a recording session is against this policy and interviewees/agents are solely responsible to ask about monies before record. (As it costs the crew, from their own money to travel). By accepting the payment (if any) and upon completion of the recording of the interview participants agree automatically for ATV to use the footage as required. Any unexpected changes (wanting to change the agreement and/or termination of use) must be given to ATV in writing within 14 days of the interview being recorded or we reserve the right to charge for the expenses incurred by our team to visit interviewees and expect any payments ATV have made to be returned.

Agents are made aware of the online site and these details within the early stages of arrangements being made.

Props and Documents

Thankfully this project was started before the demise of Carlton and Central TV. These companies have always been very generous when it comes to Crossroads and this documentary reflects that with the items the company has donated to ATV over the years. This includes the first six scripts to Crossroads from 1964, the 2001 and 2003 external signage from the motel front, a selection of photography and production notes and various costumes and studio props.

Going further back we have also the original Crossroads Motel sign in the fan club archives along with a vast amount of Crossroads publicity and publications.

Footage

The official ITV Crossroads Fan Club (part of ATV) has worked with ITV (Central, Carlton and Granada) successfully since 1987 with various projects which have included releasing episodes on VHS, screening editions at gatherings and also a stage show to mark the 25th anniversary. In 1994 ATV and Crossroads executive Peter Kingsman co-presented a Central TV documentary on the saga, and in 2000 Peter was hired by Carlton Television to work on the new series.

However since the formation of ITVplc ITV has, as yet, not offered any support towards the project or charity, so therefore at the moment there is no plans to include archive material other than the photographs in the ATV collection which ITV destroyed their versions of in 1997. Other media and television outlets have been supportive however.

It is advised that agents/interviewees print this page for their records. Invoices/contract agreements are sent separately.
